A Journey Through Copenhagen’s Best Breakfast Spots

Copenhagen
Updated on 12 Aug 2023

The travel enthusiast that I am, I also have a deep love for food. Thus, I always plan my trips around the culinary delights of a city. The story was no different when I set off to explore Copenhagen, a city that does breakfast like no other.

From a mouthwatering array of brunch options that range from plant-based breakfast bowls to traditional Danish plates of eggs or cheese on rye bread, there’s everything to savor and flavor in Copenhagen’s breakfast scene. It even caters to those who crave a twist, offering boozy mezcal-laced breakfasts served over Mexican huevos.

I started my early day at the world’s first porridge bar in this amazing city, and it’s one of my favorite memories from Copenhagen. It’s where the quintessential Danish love for oatmeal is celebrated. But, Copenhagen’s morning menu doesn’t stop at porridge. Bread and pastries hold a significant place too, and this is evident by the countless top-tier bakeries in the city.

I remember back then in my previous visits when everyone was raving about the “best burger.” Today, it’s all about the battle of the bakeries. I couldn’t help but chuckle at the question, “How’s the house croissant?” because it seemed like a true testament to the fierce competition.

But there’s more to it than pastries. I recall a conversation with the head chef at Kiin Kiin, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Copenhagen renowned for its Thai fusion cuisine. Their take on breakfast, as innovative as their lunch and dinner, adds yet another layer to the incredible breakfast arena in Copenhagen.

In essence, there’s heaps to relish when it comes to breakfast in this city, and I am excited to share my personal picks for the best breakfast in Copenhagen. Trust me, you’ll start your day just right in this culinary paradise.
